UPCOMING 2010 EVENTS:
Saturday, Sept. 4th, is the date of the ANNUAL AG. DAY in downtown Concord.
Please come visit the stands of the local farmers from 10 - 2 pm; and see what's growing in Concord this year.
Saturday, Sept. 11th, the Ag. Committee will have a float representing past and present farming in the Concord Anniversary Parade.
Sunday, Sept. 26th, 3 - 7pm, The Annual Stone Soup Dinner will be held at MinuteMan National Park under the big tent (same location as last year). A few of the 300 tickets are still available. The committee chairman is Jim Wayman. Jim, along with almost 20 other committee members are working to put together a dinner celebrating local agriculture, announcing the "Concord Farmer of the Year" award, honoring local farmers, and to support the "Plant-A-Farmer" project. The menu is selected from local, in -season food that's available in the month of September. Music and other surprise entertainment is also part of the plans.

Meetings of the Ag. Committee:
are usually held the third or fourth Thursday of each month,at 7:30pm, and are open to the public. Look for dates and location on the Town Calendar.
Chairman of the Ag. Committee was John Bemis, and now has been passed on to Dan Giurleo for 2010-2011. He is the owner of Colonial Gardens, and an Ag. committee member for the last 5 years.
Background:
This Committee consists of five residents of the Town appointed by the Board of Selectmen each for staggered five-year terms. The membership shall be as follows:
Three members representing farmer interest who are engaged in farming; Two citizens at-large interested in promoting farming
The purpose of the Committee is to provide a forum for the discussion of interest and concern to farmers in Concord and to advise the Board of Selectmen concerning how the town can help to support farming in Concord.
