Concord Fire-Rescue along with the Mass. Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) want to make you aware of some important safety concerns regarding the long duration snow storms of the past few weeks:

ADOPT A HYDRANT – We are asking residents who can safely remove snow from their closest fire hydrant to help your family, neighbors, and local Firefighters by clearing the snow after each snow storm.

SNOW ON ROOFS – It’s important to clear snow from roofs – but only if you can do this safely.  With the threat of approaching storms, additional snow can add weight and stress to the roofs of structures if not cleared. Also, for areas that get rain, the dry, fluffy snow piled on roofs can act as a sponge, absorbing any additional sleet and rain.

CHECK ON YOUR NEIGHBOR – Be a good neighbor.  Check with elderly neighbors who may need additional assistance to ensure their safety.
For Non-Emergency Questions call the Concord Fire Dept. at 978-318-3460

There has been an important change made to the State Fire Code that the State Fire Marshal’s Office has made effective on January 1st, 2015. The change replaces the old state fire code (527 CMR) with a new Comprehensive Model Fire Code (527 CMR 1.00). This new CMR adopts, in large part, the National Fire Prevention Association’s Model Fire Code (NFPA-1-2012 Edition), with Massachusetts amendments. The new code should result in an improved, more comprehensive fire safety code, using consensus standards recognized throughout the nation. For more information please follow the link here.

Concord Fire-Rescue is implementing a NEW Smoke Detector/Carbon Monoxide Detector Inspection policy, effective immediately. In order for the inspection process to go as smoothly as possible please see the "Smoke Detector/Carbon Monoxide Detector Inspections" section under "Additional Links" or click here.
