Frequently Asked Questions
How do I join the COA?

If you live in Concord and are 60 years old or older, you are automatically eligible for all COA programs and services.

Does the van go out of Town?

On Tuesdays the van will drive seniors who have a doctor’s appointment in Acton.  Call the COA as soon as you know your appointment date and time.  Out of town shopping trips are listed in Harvest Happenings, the COA newsletter.

What if I have a same day doctor’s appointment or need to refill my medicine?

We highly recommend that reservations be made as far in advance as possible for the van.  However, medical appointments are a priority to our staff, and we will do our best to accommodate you and get you to your last minute appointment or the pharmacy.

Where is the Community Center located?

The COA is located in the Harvey Wheeler Community Center in West Concord at 1276 Main Street.

What if I need the wheelchair van?

The COA has a wheelchair accessible van. If an individual cannot propel their own chair to and from the van, they must have an escort to assist them.  This is a curb to curb service.  We ask that appointments for the wheelchair van be made a week or two in advance.

What are the directions to the Harvey Wheeler Community Center?

From Route 2/Route 62 West Intersection:  Proceed through two stop lights heading west on Route 62 bearing left at the second light (at the 99 Restaurant) continue on Route 62. At the next light (Church St.) turn right and turn right again into driveway at end of playground fence (beside the Church).  Proceed to the back of the parking lot to the glassed in entryway for the HWCC.  The Council on Aging Office is through the doors and on the left side of the hallway.
