Part-time Housing Specialist Job Opportunity

The Town of Concord is seeking the services of a part-time consultant to provide professional services that relate to assisting the Town with regional affordable housing services. These services are to be provided in conjunction with the activities of the Regional Housing Services Office housed at 141 Keyes Road in Concord, MA.
The individual should have the ability to perform research, collect and analyze information and prepare written reports for municipal boards, committees and the public.  The individual must be detail oriented, maintain accurate administrative records, and be able to work independently.  Microsoft Excel proficiency is required.

The successful applicant has familiarity with affordable housing local, state and federal programs, regulations and legislation, including M.G.L. Chapter 40B permitting processes and Fair Housing laws and practices; affordable housing restrictions; and monitoring practices.

The consultant is responsible for assisting in monitoring affordable housing units and managing the resident services offered by the Office.  Additionally, the individual will act as a point of contact for town staff and residents, and will assist in implementing programs to service those residents.

Small Grants Program Round 5 Applications due September 30, 2014!


Would you like up to $3,000 for home repairs
with no obligation to repay?

This time it really isn’t too good to be true.

The Concord Housing Development Corporation is accepting applications for the Small Grants Program, designed to provide assistance to Concord residents to make repairs and alterations to their homes for safety and health reasons.

Use the money for:
Minor plumbing or electrical work light carpentry doorbell switch window repairs broken or clogged gutters or downspouts door repairs porch repairs lock repair replacement cement work or masonry repair tiling plaster patching sheet-rock repair touch-up painting smoke/CO2 detectors weather stripping bathroom grab bars interior painting or wallpapering and more

The process is designed to be simple and quick.  To be eligible:
  • The property must be in Concord, and must be your primary residence.
  • You must plan to stay in Concord for the next 12 months.
  • Your income can’t be higher than the median income in this area.
  • Your home’s assessed value must be lower than the median assessed value.
  • You must let the Concord Housing Development Corporation know before you list your house for sale.
Applications will be evaluated and prioritized based on health and safety considerations, and financial need of the applicant.  Grants are awarded three times per year, with applications due at the end of January, May, and September.
