Concord’s Affordable Housing Needs - Community Workshop & Online Questionnaire
The Town of Concord is committed to improving economic and social diversity in the community. To continue the Town’s long-standing efforts to increase Concord’s affordable housing inventory, the Town will be preparing its latest Housing Production Plan this fall.
By taking a proactive approach to maintain an up-to-date Housing Production Plan (which must be done every five years) and steadily produce affordable housing in accordance with the Plan, the Town has greater control over Chapter 40B Comprehensive Permit applications. This local control is important to ensure that housing initiatives address local needs and to protect the Town’s historic character.
To complete this year’s Plan, the Town has engaged the Regional Housing Services Office staff and housing consultant Jennifer Goldson of JM Goldson community preservation + planning. The plan will provide in-depth information on community demographics and market needs as well as an analysis of the Town’s existing affordable housing inventory and market trends.
We need the community’s input to enhance the Town’s evaluation of housing needs and updating housing goals. To this end, the consultant’s will facilitate a community workshop and create an online questionnaire. Concord residents, local employees, property owners and business owners are welcome and encouraged to participate in one or both activities.
In addition to the Community Workshop and to encourage additional participation, community members are also welcome to respond to an online questionnaire regarding Concord’s affordable housing needs and goals.

This time it really isn’t too good to be true.
The Concord Housing Development Corporation is accepting applications for the Small Grants Program, designed to provide assistance to Concord residents to make repairs and alterations to their homes for safety and health reasons.
Use the money for:
Minor plumbing or electrical work light carpentry doorbell switch window repairs broken or clogged gutters or downspouts door repairs porch repairs lock repair replacement cement work or masonry repair tiling plaster patching sheet-rock repair touch-up painting smoke/CO2 detectors weather stripping bathroom grab bars interior painting or wallpapering and more
The process is designed to be simple and quick. To be eligible:
Applications will be evaluated and prioritized based on health and safety considerations, and financial need of the applicant. Grants are awarded twice a year, with applications due at the end of January and June.
