FAQ's:
Question: Why will it take two years to rehabilitate this bridge?
Answer:
1. Due to time-sensitive environmental permitting requirements from the Army Corps of Engineers and the EPA, construction activities within the water corridor can only be performed between July 15 and October 1. A large portion of these construction activities are critical path to the construction schedule and include the installation of four deep foundation wing-walls, which require low water elevation levels.
2. This is a phased construction project which includes the following: Reinforcement of the four granite arches; installation of four wing-walls; demolition of existing bridge decking and guardrails, installation of drainage systems, installation of new bridge decking and guardrails and the resurfacing of the entire length of the bridge.
Question: Will the bridge be widened and will it include sidewalks?
Answer: YES - The bridge will be approximately 1 foot 6 inches wider, however, no sidewalks will be provided at this time.
Question: How will this construction affect the use of recreational boating?
Answer: Appropriate navigation detours will be in place to utilize at least two of the four granite arches for the use of recreational boating.
