The Department continues to be proactive with the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, (nemlec). nemlec is a regional consortium of 41 police agencies whose mission is to strengthen the individual communities through resource sharing. Sergeant Roy Mulcahy and Officers Jeff Shelley and Chris Troiano are members of the nemlec Regional swat team, Officer Kevin Monahan belongs to the regional response team, Detective Jeff Melisi is trained in hostage negotiations and Officer Sylvia Toumayan and her German Shephard, Pativ, are members of the Regional Response Team's k-9 unit. Detective Jim Forten and Officer Mike Burgess are currently members of nemlec's motorcycle unit.

The Department also staffs and supervises the operation of the Public Safety Communications Center. All emergency and non-emergency communications for police, fire and ems are handled through the Center.

The Department continues to be aggressive in seeking State and federal grant money to fund new and existing programs, offset operational expenses and purchase new equipment and technology. In the past year, the Department administered several grant programs and awards pertaining to domestic violence, community policing, the Governor's Highway Safety Bureau, and community based justice programs. Community Policing Grants have allowed the Department to continue its' commitment to the cya, Community and Youth Alliance and the c4rj, Communities for Restorative Justice. The Community Policing grants have also provided funding for additional officers for foot and specialized community traffic enforcement programs, and training in cultural awareness and domestic violence and restorative justice.
