Funding provided under the Community Preservation Act continued to support several major Town projects this year. In addition to providing half of the $3.0 million cost of playing fields at the High School, the CPA provided for the Warners Pond Dam restoration, which was nearly 50% completed by the end of 2007. The installation of a fire alarm and sprinkler system at the Town House was completed in the fall. Three units of new affordable family housing were built by the Concord Housing Trust on Old Bedford Road, using funding provided by the CPA.
The Town also usedCPA funds to purchase a three-bedroom unit of affordable housing at Emerson Annex, which was later re-sold with a permanent deed-restriction requiring the unit to be owned by an income-eligible buyer. And in an excellent partnership with the MBTA, the exterior of the Depot in West Concord was substantially renovated to improve its appearance, with 50% funding coming from the MTA and 50% from the Town via the CPA.
