Weather Message from Chief Willette - March 4, 2008:
We are looking at 1 to 2 inches of rain between 9 PM tonight and 3 PM tomorrow afternoon. There is concern that between the snow melt and if heavier rain fall occurs there could be localized street and stream flooding. The positive news is this will happen over 18 hours and the rivers are in fairly good shape.
The morning commute will be wet and sloppy. A reminder to check downspouts to ensure the roof run off is not draining into your basement and street drains are cleared of debris. If you see clogged storm drains and ponding of water on the street, notify Concord Public Works as soon as possible. Street flooding can create dangerous conditions! Lastly, stay out and away from rivers and streams, as the flow is very fast!

Flood Threat for Portions of Interior Southern New England:
A Flood Watch is now in effect for Southern New Hampshire, Western, Central and interior Northeast Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut from Tuesday Evening through Wednesday Morning. 1-2 inches of rainfall with isolated higher amounts are expected across the region. If rainfall totals can exceed 2” over a large portion of the flood watch area, flooding of urban and poor drainage areas as well as minor flooding of small streams and rivers will be possible. Models have gone back and forth with rainfall totals with some model runs predicting 1-2” of rainfall and other model runs predicting a more widespread 2” or more rainfall. The Flood Watch has been issued to cover a case of model runs with higher rainfall verifying. This will be monitored closely.
