Concord Website Wins Open Government “Superstar” Award
On Thursday March 16th, in honor of "Sunshine Week," Massachusetts Common Cause, in its Campaign for Open Government, released a survey on the internet presence of all 351 cities and towns and announced a new campaign to drastically increase internet access to key local government records-- agendas, minutes, budget, bylaws, and town meeting information.~ The survey found that Concord’s website (www.Concordma.gov) is one of only 23 municipal websites-- or about 6.5% -- having all 6 key records posted on-line. For this effort, Common Cause has awarded a 2008 “Superstar” award to the Town of Concord.
Concord’s website is the product of the dedication and commitment of a small group of staff members from virtually every Town department who, in addition to carrying out their own department’s responsibilities, have taken it upon themselves to continue to inform visitors to the Town's website on the latest news and information from their departments. This Open Government Award is a testament to their fine work.
