Project Background:

The goal of the Town’s annual roads program is to recommend adequate investment in the Town’s 107 mile roadway network to ensure the network does not deteriorate to a point which would result in more costly periodic repairs. Utility improvement opportunities are also identified and implemented within the roads program when appropriate. This can include drainage replacements or enhancements, water main and sewer main replacements and/or private utility expansions from National Grid (gas main), Verizon (Broadband internet/cable), etc.

Project Overview:

Concord Public Works has identified areas in town which requires more in-depth, localized treatment of the road surface to extend its serviceable life.  As such, the following locations have been identified to receive “mill & fill” treatments:

Scope of Work:

“Mill & Fill” involves the mechanically milling (removal) of the top 1-1/2” of existing asphalt pavement, adjustment of iron castings (i.e. catch basins, manholes, water gate valves, etc.) to proper grade, and the paving of new hot mix asphalt.  Areas identified for this treatment are for localized points in the roadway surface which are too extensively damaged for conventional pothole filling.  The ultimate goal is to extend the serviceable life of the roadway surface to increase its overall longevity.
