Community Safety Officer

The Concord Police Department's Community Safety Officer is assigned as the department's liaison with other town departments, such as Engineering, Highway, Planning, Mass Highway as well as other state agencies.

Duties

The Community Safety Officer duties include review proposed roadway construction projects and or special events to address safety issues related to those. The safety officer may work with neighborhood groups in an attempt to address specific community needs regarding safety concerns. The safety officer is also charged with several administrative duties such as such as but not limited to:
  • Coordination with engineering and highway departments relative to sign postings
  • Correlating various reports utilizing the department records management system
  • Directing special traffic enforcement programs
  • Supervision of the application of pavement markings
  • Supplying limited traffic data through the use of collection devices
