TEDtalk Series: "Don't Fear Superintelligent AI"
Monday, October 21, 2019
This month, we will look at artificial intelligence (AI). New technology spawns new anxieties according to scientist and philosopher Gracy Booch, but we don't need to be afraid of an all-powerful, unfeeling AI. In this short video lecture, Booch allays our worst fears about super-intelligent computers by explaining how we'll teach, not program them to share our human values. Rather than worry about an unlikely existential threat, he urges us to consider how artificial intelligence will enhance human life. After the video, a discussion is facilitated by Beth Roberts. This program is free of charge, but attendance is limited, so please call the COA to sign up beginning Tuesday, October 1st. 978 318 3020.
