Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission

DEI Commission Seeks Two New Members

We are inviting residents to apply for two upcoming vacancies.

The Commission works to support a more welcoming, inclusive, and connected Concord by advising Town leadership, engaging with community members, and advancing initiatives that strengthen belonging across the town.
We are seeking residents who bring relevant professional experience, community involvement, or lived perspectives that can contribute thoughtfully to the Commission’s mission and work.

Residents interested in volunteering are encouraged to complete the online application form available at concordma.gov, selecting the DEI Commission and providing a brief description of their background and interest.

Our Commitment to an Inclusive Concord

The Town of Concord’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Commission is dedicated to building a community where every resident, visitor, and worker—regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, ability, religion, or socioeconomic status—feels welcomed, valued, and heard. We strive to promote equity, inclusion, and belonging by fostering meaningful dialogue, shaping policy recommendations, and supporting initiatives that reflect the diversity of our town.

Our Mission

The DEI Commission works to:

  • Promote Equity and Inclusion: We assess and recommend policies that remove barriers and create equitable access for all.
  • Engage the Community: We facilitate conversations, public forums, and initiatives that encourage understanding and connection.
  • Advocate for Systemic Change: We support efforts that address institutional biases and foster a more just and inclusive Concord.
  • Provide Resources and Guidance: We serve as a bridge between residents and town government, ensuring all voices are represented in decision-making.

We are Concord Initiative - Join Us!

The We Are Concord Initiative is a community-wide effort to celebrate the rich diversity of our town and strengthen our collective commitment to equity and inclusion. This initiative brings together residents, local organizations, schools, businesses, and faith communities to create a more welcoming Concord for all.

How Can You Get Involved?

We invite you to partner with the DEI Commission in the following ways:

  • Share Your Story: Tell us about your experiences in Concord and what inclusion means to you.
  • Attend DEI Events: Participate in community conversations, workshops, and public forums.
  • Collaborate on Initiatives: Work with us to co-create programs that reflect our shared values of diversity and belonging.
  • Advocate for Change: Support policies and initiatives that promote equity in housing, education, employment, and civic engagement.

By working together, we can build a Concord where everyone feels a sense of belonging and respect.

Community Coffee

The DEI Commission invites you to a Community Coffee and Conversation focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Concord on Wednesday, May 13.

This gathering is an opportunity to connect with members of the DEI Commission and the Concord Police Department, reflect on recent DEI matters, and work together to find common ground in these challenging times. We invite all community members to share their experiences, ask questions, and explore how we can strengthen trust, understanding, and belonging across Concord.

All are welcome. Your presence and perspective matter.
